1. There is no trust in the relationship.

You might have heard that a relationship without trust is like a car without gas… It will not go anywhere. If you and your partner do not trust each other, then you cannot be in a relationship together. If you have trust issues in your relationship, you have an obvious issue that must be dealt with. If unresolved, despite your continuous efforts to fix it, then a breakup is inevitable.

2. There is no sex in the relationship.

Sex isn’t the most important aspect of a relationship, but it’s an important one. If your partner suddenly stops intimacy with you, you need to figure out what is wrong.

You need to sit down with your partner and have “the talk” so you can come up with a solution to this problem. If after talking to your partner you still can’t come up with a solution, then you have a decision to make.

3. Your friends and family have voiced their concerns.

If those who are closest to you have voiced their concerns about the relationship you’re in, then you have every right to be questioning where things are going. Our New Jersey matchmakers want you to know that your friends and family see the relationship from a different perspective, which is why it’s beneficial to hear them out. Take a step back and listen to what they have to say, then reevaluate your relationship yourself.

4. You have a hard time communicating.

This, or maybe you don’t communicate at all. If the lines of communication are closed, you can’t have a relationship. You can’t efficiently voice your opinions if your partner doesn’t listen to you. How can you solve problems without communication?

If you have reached a point in your relationship where you have a hard time communicating, then a breakup is inevitable.

5. You both like different things.

In order for a relationship to be successful, both partners must enjoy common things. Of course you can’t like everything your partner does, but you should at least support their hobbies and interests and vice versa.

In order for a relationship to be strong, both partners must be supportive of one another. Having nothing in common will make for a very sour relationship, as the two of you will never do anything together. You should at least have a few things you both enjoy doing; otherwise, your relationship doesn’t stand a chance.

6. They don’t support you.

Support is essential for your relationship to be successful. You need to be each other’s #1 cheerleaders, motivators, and confidants. If you are pursuing something in life, your partner should be by your side encouraging you. If your partner expresses no interest in helping you reach your goals, then the relationship will soon crumble.

7. One of you is still holding onto the past.

If you or your partner are holding onto the past, you will not be able to move forward in your relationship. Holding onto the past will certainly hurt your relationship. Our New Jersey matchmakers want you to realize this is a huge issue that needs to be fixed if you want things to work out.

How can you focus on the present when one of you is clearly focused on the past? You will not be able to move forward until the past is left where it belongs, in the past.

8. Your plans don’t align.

If all your activities used to include your partner and vice versa, but that has suddenly changed, clearly there is something wrong. Distance and resentment will soon creep in and create a lot of distance. When partners don’t plan for or include each other in future plans, the relationship will soon die down.

9. Quality time has gone out the window.

Having me-time is very important to a relationship, but just as important is spending quality time together. It is a way to catch up with each other and see what each of you has done throughout the week.

Quality time should happen as often as possible. This doesn’t mean date night daily. Even just sitting down and talking while eating your meals or lounging on the sofa catching up with the day’s events will suffice. If quality time has vanished from your relationship, and neither of you care to prioritize each other, then a breakup is just around the corner.

10. You future plans are on hold.

If your plans to get a place together, or even get married, have suddenly disappeared, there is obviously something wrong.

If future plans are put on hold without a valid reason, there is a serious reason behind it. It could be that one of you has realized they don’t want to be in a relationship anymore.

If future plans have been put on hold, talk to each other and figure out why. If one of you doesn’t want to be in a relationship, then it’s best to move on.

Before you conclude that your relationship is over, make sure you’ve done everything you can to salvage it. So many people today wish to be in a loving relationship so don’t let yours fade away without putting up a fight.
